## Which Benefits can I take from this integration?

When the calendar is integrated at the tenant level, it allows Chili Piper to read the free/busy status of any users that the tenant-level integration user has access to. It's important to mention that reading the free/busy status of events does **not** include any additional details related to the event (for example: event title, guest list, location, etc.)

While most organizations allow for free/busy access to internal employee's calendars, there are always exceptions to the rule. Due to this, we still recommend all end-users connect to their calendars to ensure 100% availability accuracy.

**Example in Context:**

  * An SDR is booking a Meeting for an AE via Handoff, but the AE’s Calendar is disconnected from Chili Piper or has not logged in to connect Calendar.
    * The SDR is able to view the up-to-date times where the AE is available.
    * When the meeting is booked, Chili Piper will use the SDR’s Calendar to **create** the meeting and **invite** the AE and the Guest.
      * Handoff Scheduler view will also denote this if the settings are set to create the meeting in the "Assignee’s Calendar".

**Applicable to:**

  * Viewing the Assignee’s Calendar in Handoff Scheduler for Instant Booking, Suggested Times, & Inserting Links via Chrome Extension.

  * When you add an _internal_ _additional guest_ to the Invite who has not connected their calendar, both in Handoff and ChiliCal view.

What it **does not do:**

  * It is not applicable to Concierge and doesn’t serve as a “Fallback User”
  * It is not applicable to ChiliCal when using “My Team’s Link”.
  * We will not **create** the meeting using the Global Calendar Connection, only **view.**
    * Note: This uses sharing permissions, meaning the connected user must be able to view their co-workers' time slots within the actual calendar system for it to work with Chili Piper.

## Requirements

Within Chili Piper itself, the calendar integration user does **not** need to be a licensed Chili Piper user.

We recommend checking the articles below to ensure your org gives the Chili Piper app the required permissions, and the calendar integration user (and other users) will be able to establish their connection. The permission scopes below will need to be set by a GSuite or Microsoft instance admin user.

  * [Permission Scope for Google OAuth Registered App](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/29326902266515)
  * [Permission Scope for Office365 Registered App](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/29180706055955)

Last but not least, another important part is ensuring the calendar integration user has access to other users' calendars, so we would also recommend checking the documentation below from Google and Microsoft if you don't have visibility to others' calendars, especially if they are from the same org, but use a different domain:

  * [Microsoft](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/manage/share-calendars-with-external-users?view=o365-worldwide&redirectSourcePath=%252fen-us%252farticle%252fshare-calendars-with-external-users-fb00dd4e-2d5f-4e8d-8ff4-94b2cf002bdd)

## Connection Status and Next Steps

Before covering the connection status, it's also important to mention that

This connection can have 3 states:

  * Connected
  * In Trouble (connected, but there is an issue)
  * Disconnected

A banner will appear should the calendar connection become "In trouble" or "Disconnected" at any time:

If you notice the connection status is In Trouble, we recommend reconnecting or disconnecting/connecting it. If it's disconnected, we recommend connecting.

After connecting it back, you should be good to go if the "Connected" status is displayed, like the screenshot below:
