Slack notifications can be used in Chat by adding the 'Send a Slack Notification' node in your [Journeys](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/27532198601107/%20) at various points to notify the team of new visitors wanting to chat or other alerts the team should be aware of.

Below, we will cover how to set up Slack notifications, the required permission scope, and what to expect from them.

## How to Set Up the Slack Notifications

To set up the integration, you will first need your **Slack** **admin** to connect Slack via the****[**Integrations page**](https://calendar.chilipiper.com/fire/admin/integrations%20) in the Command Center (please note that this user also needs to be an Admin at Chili Piper to be able to access the Command Center):

Once this is connected, you can add a **Send Slack Notification** node to your Journey.

From there, you can customize who it is sent to: the owner, Assignee, Channel, or a specific user.

### Message Customization

You can customize the message based on where you use this notification in the Journey. To personalize the message even further or provide additional information, you can include **Dynamic Tags** to automatically and dynamically populate certain values.

In the node setup screen, click Insert Dynamic Tag, and a pop-up will appear with options to be selected:

  * **Guest** : Collects data from Data Fields. Data should be captured from the prospect's Chat conversation.
  * **Assignee** : Data associated with the user who is assigned to a meeting.
  * **Assignee 2** and **More Assignees** : If your use case has more than one Assignee, you can use such fields to also collect data associated with those.

For example, in below's setup we will add a Dynamic Tag to add the Guest's First Name and Company Name to the Slack notification:

Don't forget to **publish** your Journey once the changes are complete!

## Permission Scope

Once the status shows "Connected", a new Slack app will be added to your org called _ChiliBot_. You can view the scope/permissions required [**here**](https://chili-piper.slack.com/apps/AT8MQJ44U-chilibot?utm_source=in-prod&utm_medium=inprod-link_app_directory-channel_settings-click&next_id=0) and also in the screenshot below:

## How the Notifications are Sent

Any notifications that come from Chili Piper will be sent via **ChiliBot**.

In your [Journeys](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/27532198601107/%20), when adding a "Send a Slack Notification" node, if you are using the "Send to Channel" option, you **must** ensure that **@chilinbot** is added to the channel before going live if the channel is private.

You can do this by @ mentioning the bot in the channel and inviting it to join when the prompt appears:

You are now ready to start using the Slack integration in your [Journeys](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/27532198601107/):

## Which Notifications Are Sent?

By default, without requiring any additional configuration besides the one mentioned in this article, we send the following notifications:

### Meeting Booked through Chat

If a meeting is scheduled through one of your [Chat Journeys](https://help.chilipiper.com/hc/en-us/articles/27532198601107-Creating-a-Journey-in-Chat#h_01HS8ZAFK78TA8GY35AHEBBFPF), the assignee will receive a Slack notification like this:

### Chat Conversation reassigned

If a Chat conversation gets reassigned, the new assignee receives a notification like this:

The **Send Slack Notification** node, also covered in this article, can also be used to notify users when there's a new visitor on the site. Navigate back to the _How to Set Up the Slack Notifications_ section to learn how.
