Who can use this feature?
Connect Twilio to decrease no-shows and increase meeting completion rates with Chili Piper's SMS Reminders feature!
In this article, we will discuss in more detail how to set up your organization's Twilio connection.
Before we start, there are a few settings in Twilio to note when configuring the Chili Piper SMS integration:
- Chili Piper does work with Twilio sub-accounts!
- We can work with Twilio trial accounts, but each number needs to be verified first via caller ID.

How to Setup?
To set up the integration, you must connect Twilio via the Integrations page in the Admin Center.
Once you start the connection process by clicking the "Connect" button, a pop-up will appear asking for some Twilio-related details: Account String Identified (SID), Auth Token, and Phone Number.
You should be able to find this information on your Twilio's console home page (console.twilio.com), under Account Info:
After gathering the required data, click "Connect". Once connected, you will notice a "Connected" flag, as shown in the screenshot below:
Adjust your SMS Geo Permissions in Twilio
Configuring SMS Geo Permissions in Twilio allows you to control the list of countries to which you can send SMS messages.
To do that, navigate to this page in Twilio, and you will find the countries separated by continent, where you can mark the checkbox next to the countries you work with. Click "Save geo permissions" once done.
We also recommend checking this documentation from Twilio to learn more about SMS geo permissions.
United Kingdom & Philippines Restrictions for SMS Messages
Since 2023/07/01, the United Kingdom started blocking SMS messages submitted with international long codes, as they consider "an abuse of Person-to-Person (P2P) routes".
Starting 11/26/2024, "in an effort to prevent potential fraud, messages sent from international long codes and unregistered Alphanumeric Sender IDs to the Philippines will be blocked".
Chili Piper uses the first number that a customer has configured in their connected Twilio instance, so we would advise using one of the three approaches suggested by Twilio if you're willing to or you already send messages to the UK from any other countries outside of the UK:
If you're US based, according to this Twilio's documentation, alphanumeric codes are not supported in the US.
The above scenario should have no impact if you are not sending messages to the UK and the Philippines from countries outside these same two countries.
