Once your Chat AI settings are configured, the next step is to bring it into your Journeys. Adding Chat AI to a Journey enables it to greet visitors, detect their intent, and trigger the appropriate actions in real-time. By enabling it at the start or on specific paths, you control exactly where and how Chat AI engages with website traffic.
How to Add Chat AI to your Chat Journey
Create or open an existing Chat Journey
You can start with something new or add Chat AI to one of your existing Journeys. If you need assistance with creating a new one, please visit Setting Up Chat AI for more details.

Add the Chat AI Node
Place the Chat AI node at the beginning of your Journey to capture every visitor, or add it only on the paths where you want Chat AI to trigger.
💡For example, put Chat AI at the start of a “Request Demo” Journey so it can qualify and route all demo requests automatically. Or start at the beginning of the journey, where every visitor begins with Chat AI.
Greeting your Visitor
The first setting to configure in the Chat AI node is the Greeting Visitor setting. There, you can define between the following behaviors to greet your visitors:
- Smart Greeting: Opt for an AI-generated greeting based on visitor context.

Fixed Greeting: The same wording will be used for all visitors.
Select your Strategies
Choose which Strategies Chat AI should use within this Journey. Strategies define the visitor intents you want to detect, such as Meeting Requests, Pricing Questions, or Competitor Mentions.
💡 For example, in a Journey focused on top-of-funnel traffic, you might enable Product Questions and Meeting Requests strategies, while leaving out Pricing for now.
Enable Shortcuts - Optional
Shortcuts enable visitors to skip open conversations and proceed directly to common actions. You can enable them for some or all Journeys.
💡 For example, add a “Schedule a Meeting” shortcut button so a high-intent visitor can instantly schedule without typing a question.
Add Action Nodes to your Strategies
Pair each Strategy with the right actions. These can include:
- Offering a meeting
- Routing to live chat
- Updating Salesforce
- Sending notifications
- Capturing visitor data
For example, if a visitor asks about pricing, Chat AI can capture their email, company size, update Salesforce, and then offer to book a call with sales.
Publish!
Once your Strategies and actions are in place, publish your Journey. Chat AI will immediately begin engaging visitors in natural conversations and routing them to the most relevant outcomes.
