You can send Microsoft Teams notifications directly from your Chili Piper Chat Journey using a Zapier webhook. This is a great way to alert your team in real-time when a visitor reaches a specific step in the Journey. The steps to set this up are outlined below.
Step 1: Create a New Zap
- Go to Zapier and create a new Zap.
- For your Trigger, select Webhooks by Zapier.
- Choose Catch Hook and copy the unique webhook URL Zapier provides — you'll need this later in the Chat Journey.
Step 2: (Optional) Add Conditional Paths
- Set Rule Condition for Type: Team exactly matches Team
Step 2B: Configure Path B (e.g., Send to User)
- Set Rule Condition for Type: User exactly matches User
Step 3: Set Up Microsoft Teams Actions
Step 3A: Path A – Create Chat and Send Message
- Action: Microsoft Teams → Create Chat and Send Message
- Set Team Member(s) value to Email
- Add a personalized message using webhook fields, such as Message
Step 3B: Path B – Send Channel Message
- Action: Microsoft Teams → Send Channel Message
- Configure the Team and Channel fields; note that these should appear exactly as shown.
- Customize your message using data from the webhook, such as Message.
Skip this step if you didn’t set up conditional paths.
Step 4: Add the Webhook in Your Chat Journey
- In Chili Piper, open the Chat Journey where you want to trigger the notification.
- Add the "Send Teams Notification" node.
- Paste the webhook URL from Zapier.
- Set the Message and define whether it should be sent to a channel or user. Use any custom fields or logic you've configured in your Zap.
Step 5: Publish Your Journey and Zap
- Double-check that everything is connected properly.
- You can proceed with publishing your Chat Journey.
- Turn your Zap on.
You're all set! Now, every time someone reaches that step in the Chat Journey, your team will get notified in Microsoft Teams 🎉
