You may have received an email from Zoom saying the "Chili Piper" app is being removed from the Zoom App Marketplace. This notice refers only to our retired legacy Zoom app. Your current Chili Piper Zoom integration is not affected, and no action is needed.
What's happening
Chili Piper has a two apps listed in the Zoom App Marketplace:
-
Chili Piper - Fire: the current app that powers Zoom meetings booked through Chili Piper. This app is not changing.
- Chili Piper: an older app built for a platform we no longer operate. It has been replaced by Chili Piper - Fire and is being retired as it was for our legacy product suite.
When an app is retired, Zoom automatically emails accounts that ever authorized it. That's why the email names "Chili Piper" and gives a removal date. The notice does mention that it concerns the "legacy Chili Piper Zoom app only" but this is not formatted well, and is easy to overlook.
Frequently asked questions
Will my Zoom meetings stop working?
No. Meetings booked through Chili Piper use the Chili Piper - Fire app, which remains active. Existing and future meetings with Zoom links are not impacted.
Do I need to do anything?
No. If you'd like to tidy up, you can remove the legacy "Chili Piper" app from your Zoom account if it still appears (see below). It no longer holds any data.
How can I confirm which app my team is using?
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Click Manage > Added Apps.
- Look for Chili Piper - Fire. If it's listed, you're on the current app.
If you only see the legacy "Chili Piper" app and no "Chili Piper - Fire", this would be because your current account at Chili Piper has no Zoom connected. Feel free to get this connected within Chili Piper, or reach out if you need further assistance.
The email mentions archiving my data. Should I?
No. Zoom includes a standard grace period for archiving data with every app removal. The legacy app does not hold any of your data, so there's nothing to export.
Part of the email looks garbled or has strange characters. Is that expected?
Yes, this is a known formatting issue in how the "Notes from the app developer" section renders in Zoom's email. The intended message is:
This notice concerns the legacy "Chili Piper" Zoom app only. It is being retired because it has been replaced by "Chili Piper - Fire". If you use Chili Piper today, your integration runs on "Chili Piper - Fire" and is not affected. No action is needed.
I'm having trouble installing or reconnecting Chili Piper - Fire. Is this related?
The legacy app removal does not change the Chili Piper - Fire app. If you run into an error while installing or authorizing it, please contact support with a screenshot of the error and we'll investigate.
