Pre-Requisites
- You must be a Chili Piper Admin to configure Custom Email Domains.
- You will need access to your DNS provider (for example, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Route 53).
- Only one custom email domain can be configured per account.
- Domain verification is automatic and may take up to 72 hours.
How to configure Custom Email Domains
- In the Admin Center, click Integrations in the left-hand menu, then open the Email Domains tab.
- Enter your domain name without any protocol or subdomain (for example,
acme.com, nothttps://acme.comorwww.acme.com), then click Continue. -
You will see three CNAME records. Add them via your DNS provider. Each record contains:
Field Value Type CNAME Host {token}._domainkeyValue {token}.dkim.amazonses.com
Use the copy icons in Chili Piper to copy the Host and Value for each record to avoid typos. - Add all three CNAME records to your DNS provider. The steps vary depending on your provider. Consult your DNS provider's documentation for specific instructions.
Note: DNS changes can take time to propagate. Do not proceed until you have added all three records. - Once you've added the records, return to Chili Piper and click I’ve Added the Records.
- Verification will begin automatically. This can take up to 72 hours, though it is usually much faster. You can safely close this page while verification runs in the background.
Note: There is no email notification when verification completes. Check back periodically to see the status. -
Once verification is complete, you will see a success message. Toggle Send emails from custom domain to enable the feature.
Setting a Profile Picture
Microsoft Users
These steps are dedicated to Google Calendar users only. More updates are yet to come for Microsoft users.
If you set a custom domain email address (for example, reminder@mydomain.com) to Chili Piper to send Reminders, the profile picture shown to recipients is not controlled by Chili Piper.
Instead, the profile image is determined by the email provider (such as Gmail) and the Google Account associated with the sending email address.
If reminder@mydomain.com is a full Google Workspace user (not an alias or group), you can set the profile picture directly in Google.
- Log in to the Google Account for
reminder@mydomain.com. - Go to myaccount.google.com.
- Navigate to Personal info → Photo.
- Upload the desired profile picture or logo.
- Ensure the photo visibility is set to Visible to everyone so external recipients can see it.
Once saved, Gmail recipients should see the updated profile picture on future emails.
Emails affected
Once enabled, the following emails will be sent from your custom domain:
-
Meeting reminder emails sent to guests (for example,
reminders@yourdomain.com)
Limitations
- Only one custom email domain per account.
- No email notification when verification completes, check back periodically.
Troubleshooting Section
1 - Verification failed
If verification fails, you’ll see an error message like the one below:
Double-check the following:
- All three CNAME records were added correctly.
- The Host and Value fields match exactly what Chili Piper provided.
- DNS changes have had time to propagate (up to 48 hours)
You can click Cancel to remove the domain and start again if needed.
